Now I see a post from Sandipb which I had not seen earlier, so I am replying to this:
[sandipb on February 28th, 2008 4:58 pm]
@Sandip,
See, I am not taking any sides here. I am only agreeing with what I also believe in. Wasn’t I the first person to respond to Rohini’s first post which started all this controversy. Some of her points are genuine, while some others are hypothetical. Based on these she has conjured up a theory which is partially true. I know that there are a lot of things which are inaccurate or exaggerations, but that does not make everything she says wrong.
Coming to your points, Sanchita was the best in my opinion. I liked Debojit more than Vinit, although Nihira was the best. Aneek was my 2nd favourite in Ch-2007 after Amanat, so he was very good. But again, we know that people do not vote looking at talent…that has been proved time and again. So although I am happy with these results, I am not so sure that these happened for fair reasons.
And I think all of us need to have an open ear and an open heart to listen to other people’s opinions and accept what is true.

@beingfair,
I give up. I am not smart enough to continue this discussion further. You’ve outsmarted me.

@Rohini,
It’s alright! As you say, you just used them as references and did not claim to have written those articles, so the question of plagiarism does not exist.

@M Nathan,
I once said that Tanmay’s repititive jokes are getting under my skin, but I didn’t really mean any bad for him in person. Trust me, it was just a way of expressing my disgust/frustration at the programme, and was not directed towards him. I know that it is scripted.

@Satan,
Thanks for giving me an opportunity to be in the “most desired” company of Sumedha. ;-)
As far as the judges making a disappearing act is concerned, my sources tell me that they were paid for only a fixed number of episodes, and since Zee added two weeks to accomodate the Wild Card round (remember?), they fell short by two weeks. :D
Hope the mystery is resolved now!

Rohini,
I have my cool very well maintained..I’m just trying to understand your point and I’m not yet convinced by your theory, since you haven’t answered me completely.
Please note that I am not discussing this to win an argument with you. I really want to understand your point.
You say that Raja got more votes but in order to make Aneek the winner, Zee allowed software-enabled voting. Now, firstly, Zee as you said is interested in money-making, why would they allow software-enabled voting where they dont earn money? Again, how did they know that only Aneek supporters would use it. Also, if Raja was getting more votes than Aneek why would they bother about making Bengalis happy. Doesn’t it mean Rajasthanis were voting more than Bengalis? Why not make Rajasthanis happy then? Again, why did you forget that Sandeep Acharya won II2, and he was from Rajasthan as well. So why wouldn’t Zee be interested in making Rajasthanis happy?

@Rohini,
Another instance that I forgot to mention is the introduction of a new contestant “Rigved” from Maharashtra in SVOI Chhote Ustaad. I just can’t ignore the fact that he came at the time when Marathi sentiments were running high courtesy Mr. Raj Thackeray. What a coincidence!
And this coming from SVOI, I am not surprised at all. Regionalism has always been blatantly promoted in that show, be it in the Adult version or the one for kids. You should watch how Abhaas very blatantly and shamelessly urges the people of the contestant’s state to vote for the contestant. Nothing less than Mr. Thackeray’s provocative statements!
Jai Maharashtra!!

@Sonniagul1,
I’m honoured. Thanks!

Now that a new post from Rohini has appeared, I’d wish to change my nomination. The most verbose award should go to Rohini.

@hkb79,
Sorry for that ;-)

@Rohini,
I don’t agree with a few things in your post. Firstly, let me ask you something. If you claim that Punjabis, Assamese & Bengalis are the most prolific voters, how can you then suggest that Zee or any other channel needs to manipulate the results in their favour? I mean, if the contestants from these places get high votes they’d automatically turn to be winners…why does the channel need to facilitate that. By the same logic, Debojit, Aneek, Sanchita & Ishmeet won the competitions due to the high number of votes they got from their respective states.
Now coming to your point that these programmes always have contestants from Bengal/Assam/Punjab, etc., let me clarify that Bengalis are very talented in the field of music, hence their presence in such shows. Please note that I am neither a Bengali nor a Punjabi. The fact that the channels conduct auditions in these states for not purely music/talent reasons is debatable, and might be true to some extent. In fact one such instance that comes to my mind is that many shows these days have Nepali singers (after the success story of Prashant from II3). We now have Prakriti in SVOI who always gets maximum votes. You get the drift? So, I dont disagree with you completely…channels may have “malafide” reasons for bringing some contestant into the competition, but I dont believe they have any reason to manipulate results in their favour.
